Manpreet Singh And Mary Kom Become The Flag Bearers Of The Indian Contingent At The Tokyo Olympics

The captain of the Indian National Men’s Hockey Team, Manpreet Singh and Olympic Bronze Medal winner at the 2012 London Olympics, Mary Kom became the flag bearers of the Indian contingent at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

It is a moment of pride for both the athletes to have the opportunity to be the flag bearers of not only the Indian contingent at the games, but a whole nation of over a billion people. Every Punjabi felt proud watching the turbanator Sardar Manpreet Singh leading the flag bearing ceremony at the most prestigious sport stage in the world. 

Indian has been sending a strong number of athletes to the last three editions of the Olympic games. This time too India has sent a large contingent participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. India’s contingent comprises a 228 member squad including 127 athletes participating in 18 sporting events across the tournament.

India has also had a fair start at the Olympic games. Saurabh Chaudhary is having a great run in the Shooting qualifiers. Abhishek Verma is too recovering. Sumit Nagal has won the first set of the men’s singles tennis face off. The other athletes are also expected to have a strong position in their respective fields.

The Tokyo Olympics 2020 are scheduled to start from 23 July, 2021 and continue till 8 August 2021. The games were scheduled to be held in the year 2020 but the global pandemic of Coronavirus prevented the games to be held in 2020 itself. The games had to be postponed and now finally we are witnessing the pinnacle sporting event being held live.
