In addition to facing a highly anticipated fall election, the leader of the federal NDP is soon to become father.
Jagmeet Singh and spouse Gurkiran Kaur Sidhu announced on Thursday that the pair is expecting their first child.
“We are having a baby!!!!” Singh announced on social media. ” Gurkiran Kaur and I are so excited for this new adventure!”
The photo on Instagram shows Singh embracing Sidhu, who is cradling her baby bump with both hands, while a photo posted on Twitter showed the couple standing side by side in a field of flowers, Singh’s hand on his wife’s bump.
Jagmeet has kept his private life and marriage out of the public eye, before he proposed to Gurkiran Kaur in front of family friends and media in Toronto in 2018.
His wife is a designer and co-founder of a punjabi clothing line ‘Jangiiro’. The couple tied their knots in February 2018.
Meanwhile, Jagmeet Singh and other party people will be spending the next 39 days on the campaign trail, with the next federal election in Canada taking place on September 20.
