Bombay Begums is a web series released in March on OTT Platform Netflix. The series is currently in trouble as viewers are raising questions and offended due to various reasons.
The hashtag #TakeActionAgainstBombayBeguma is currently very active on Twitter. Netizens are highlighting how the web series has shown excessive violence, drugs, nudity, and inappropriate image of children.
Twitter users also expressed their anger as they believe the series has tried to defame the Hindu religion especially.
This is not only the concern of people on the internet as recently last week The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) also raised discomfort and disappointment over the inappropriate portrayal of children. The NCPCR has filed a complaint against the makers of the drama series and sent an open letter to the Information & Broadcast Ministry of India.
The commission says this type of content will not only pollute young minds but may also result in abuse and exploitation of children.
Hence netizens and NCPCR have demanded a ban on the web series which is still available for streaming on Netflix.
Bombay Begums released on Netflix and is written & directed by Alankrita Shrivastava. The series stars Pooja Bhatt, Shahana Goswami, Amruta Subhash, Plabita Borthakur and Aadhya Anand.
