On Farmer Protest: Mandy Takhar Said “Proud Grand-Daughter Of A Farmer”

Over the past couple of month, Twitter has seen an increased buzz around the farmer’s agitation in India. Many Bollywood and Pollywood stars came under the support of the farmers. American pop singer and entrepreneur Rihanna also tweeted and drew attention to the issue.  And now, actress Mandy Takhar has tweeted in support of the farmers’ protest by saying ‘Proud daughter of a Farmer.’

In a series of tweets, the actress shared a picture of her grandfather where she wrote: “Sardar Darshan Singh Takhar .. mere dada Ji.. A farmer proud granddaughters of a Farmer. #SupportFarmersProtest #kissanmajdoorektazindabad #FarmersProtest

Over the past six months, there has been unrest in the borders of India’s capital where thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh have been gathering to protest against the Indian government’s farm law bills, asking for their immediate rollback.

Singer Rihanna’s tweet drew global attention to the farmer’s agitation in the country, with young Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg too joining in support. Indian farmers’ protest is gathering support from many international celebrities, now spreading to football and basketball stars, past and present.
