When the actress was only 13 years old, her father Durganand Zinta died in a car accident and her mother was seriously injured. Her mother also passed away when she was 15 years old, but the actress worked hard to make a name for herself in the industry.

Apart from being an actress, Preity Zinta also does many types of social work, through which she helps underprivileged women and children.

However, in 2009, on her 34th birthday, Preity gave herself a lovely gift. The diva decided to adopt 34 orphan girls from Mother Miracle Orphanage in Rishikesh.

In an old interview given to a leading daily, Preity Zinta had talked about adopting 34 orphan girls. The actress shared that she will take care of the entire upbringing of these 34 girls, which includes their education expenses, food, clothes and more.

Talking about these cute kids, Preity said that her heart literally melts and fills with joy when she hears them talking. She described these 34 girls as her children and her responsibility and said that she would come to meet them twice a year.

In the same interview, Preity Zinta said that she was always concerned about such girls and wanted to help them. She also shared that the constant news about feticide and child abuse was scary for her.
