Living In These Indian States? Rethink About Your New Year Party Plans

Due to the rise in Omicron cases, many states have imposed restrictions to avoid major gatherings ahead of New Year. The Center’s guidelines include measures such as reimposing night curfew, banning social gatherings and more. Take a look at the list of the states:

Haryana

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar imposed a night curfew and restricted the movement of people from 11 pm to 5 am. The state government also prohibits gatherings of more than 200 people in public places and events. 

Earlier, the Haryana government had announced that people who are not fully vaccinated will not be permitted inside crowded places like malls, cinema halls and restaurants in Haryana from January 1, 2022.

Maharashtra

Amid Omicron scare, Maharashtra government imposes new Covid-19 restrictions on 24 December, prohibiting gathering of more than five persons in public places between 9 pm to 6 am.

The new guidelines, issued ahead of Christmas, will come into force from midnight, an official release said late Friday evening.

Restaurants, gyms, spas, cinemas, theaters will have 50 percent capacity attendance. All of them will have to declare their full potential as well as 50 percent capacity.

Moreover, the District Disaster Management Authority may impose stricter restrictions where necessary, taking into account local conditions. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person.

Karnataka

The Karnataka government too has announced restrictions on public celebrations of New Year in the wake of rising cases of Omicron in the state.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said restrictions would be in place from 30 December to 2 January.

The chief minister said that all public gatherings like revelers on MG Road, Brigade Road to welcome the New Year will be banned across Karnataka. He added that there won’t be any public celebration and special events in any part of the state.

Clubs and restaurants will be allowed to function at 50 percent capacity. However, no permission will be given to DJ events, New Year parties.

The chief minister added that churches will be allowed to hold prayer meets as per COVID-19 rules.

Gujarat

The Gujarat government has imposed a night curfew till 31 December. It has allowed gyms and restaurants to operate with 75 percent capacity.

Tamil Nadu

The MK Stalin-led government on 14 December imposed a ban on New Year celebrations at all beaches in Chennai, saying no entry and gatherings will be allowed there on 31 December 31 and 1 January.

The government also said the ban on social, cultural and political events will continue till December 31.

Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh government has imposed a night curfew from 11PM To 5 AM which begins from 25 December. It has also capped the number of people allowed at weddings to 200. The Covid protocols will have to be followed at all times at events, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has instructed.

Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ordered imposing restrictions in the state. Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “We are implementing a night curfew from 11 pm to 5 am. More measures will be taken if needed.” Presently, not a single case of Omicron has been reported in Madhya Pradesh.

Delhi

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) which devices COVID-19 management policies for the capital, has directed district magistrates to ensure no Christmas and New Year gathering takes place in the national capital. Restaurants and bars will continue to operate with up to 50 per cent of the seating capacity. Marriage-related gatherings are permitted with a maximum of 200 people in attendance.

Hence, these are few states which imposed night curfew, movement restriction, less gatherings and many such curbs. So, if you live in one of these states then be aware and take precautions before stepping out from your house.
