Apple’s iPhone 14 Event: iPhone 14 And iPhone 14 Pro: All You Need To Know

The highly anticipated iPhone 14 series along with a new Watch Series 8, Watch Ultra, and the newest iteration of AirPods Pro, had all been unveiled at Apple’s September event. Furthermore, CEO Tim Cook opened the keynote talk at Apple’s in-person iPhone launch, which was held at the Steve Jobs Theater in the company’s Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Meanwhile, the A15 Bionic chipset is still used in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, but Apple has improved the camera and added security measures like crash detection. Moreover, the US versions of the iPhone 14 series are also without any SIM trays. Yes, you read that right! Surprisingly, Apple is providing emergency SOS communication using satellites!!!

However, for the time being, this is only applicable to the United States and Canada. The brand-new iPhone 14 has a Dolby Vision display, an OLED screen, with a peak brightness of 1200 nits. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Plus has a 6.7-inch display, compared to the 6.1-inch display of the iPhone 14. Moreover, for a better viewing experience, both devices have Super Retina XDR displays.

These new i-Phones will be available in starlight, blue, purple, midnight and product red colours. While the dual camera system is the same, the main camera is a new 12-megapixel model with a bigger sensor and 1.9-micron pixels, also having support for OIS. According to Apple, these new models would perform 49% better in low-light as compared to the older ones. 

Additionally, a new Photonic Engine with improved picture processing is available to provide better photos in low light. As per the manufacturer, the exposure time in Night-mode has also increased by double. 

Furthermore, it’s front camera is also of 12-megapixel, but supports a hybrid system with a TrueDepth camera, making it easier to lock focus even in dim light. Additionally, a new video action mode has been introduced that makes use of the entire sensor along with “overscan” and “roll correction” to produce videos that are more stable.

Price-wise, the iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999 (Rs. 79,585), while the iPhone 14 Pro Max costs $1,099 (Rs 87,550). From September 9, in the US, both iPhones will be available for pre-order. However, in India, the iPhone 14 Pro starts at Rs 129,900, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max costs Rs 139,900.
