Punjab: Former AAP MLA Amarjeet Sandoa’s Innova, Allegedly ‘Bought With Tainted Money’ Traced To Ludhiana

Amarjeet Singh Sandoa, a former Ropar MLA of the Aam Aadmi Party, has been accused of using tainted funds through the alleged land scam in the Forest Department, to buy Innova Crysta, the vehicle which had been blocked by Ropar SDM. As per the media reports, it has been located in the Ludhiana district. 

Reportedly, Amarjeet Singh Sandoa, a former Ropar MLA of the Aam Aadmi Party, was driving the vehicle, who is believed to be its owner. As per the latest development, his vehicle has been seized by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau. 

Following a report submitted by Ropar DC containing various allegations, including that the Punjab State Forest Corporation had purchased 54 acres and 8 marlas of land at Karura village in the district from Daljit Singh Bhinder and his brother Amarinder Singh Bhinder at Rs 9,90,000 per acre, despite the collector rate in the area being only Rs 90,000 per acre, a case had been registered at Nupur Bedi police station on June 29 of this year.

According to the investigation, Sandoa’s father-in-law Mohan Singh bought the car in October 2020 using funds that were supplied by one of the scheme suspects straight to the car dealer’s account. Sandoa said that it was a plot by his adversaries and insisted on his innocence. After the owner failed to present the vehicle before the VB on August 26, Ropar SDM blacklisted the vehicle. 

Reportedly, till now, Four officials of the Indian Forest Services have been chargesheeted in the case of this alleged land scam. As per the VB sources, Barinder Kumar, a resident of Jalandhar, Punjab, who was found to be involved in the scam during the probe, had made the payment for the car. Additionally, the VB has now asked the Ropar SDM Harbans Singh to block the car. 

“On August 26, I received the VB’s letter, and we have accordingly taken action,” said the SDM.
