Why Is Sushant Singh Rajput’s M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story Re-Releasing In Cinemas?

Seven years after the theatrical release, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story is all set to bring back the same magic to cinemas. Directed by Neeraj Pandey and originally released in 2016, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story chronicled the journey of cricketer and former Indian national team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. 

Sushant Singh Rajput played the role of Indian cricketer M.S. Dhoni in his biopic won hearts for his performance, and now makers are re-releasing the film as another chance to relive the legendary cricketer’s most magical moments on the big screen.

Bikram Duggal, Head, Studios, Disney Star, said, “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story has not only been an incredibly special film for Star Studios but also for Indians all over the world, showcasing the inspiring journey of our most successful cricket captain. The re-release aims to give his fans across the country another chance to relive cricket’s most magical moments on the big screen.”

Moreover, Star Studios announced through their Instagram that Sushant Singh Rajput’s hit 2016 film M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story will be re-released in cinemas on May 12. Sharing a poster from the beloved film, the caption read, “Jab Mahi phir pitch pe aayega, pura India sirf “Dhoni! Dhoni! Dhoni!” chilaayega. M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story Re-Releasing in cinemas on May 12.” 

Apart from the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput as M.S. Dhoni, the film also features Disha Patani, Kiara Advani, and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. The movie opened in theaters on September 30, 2016, and became a critical and commercial success. M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story was the sixth most successful Indian film of 2016 and the fifth most successful Bollywood film of 2016.

Moreover, the biopic turned out to be one of the biggest hits of Sushant’s career, as he received several nominations in the Best Actor category that year for his performance in the film.

So get ready to witness the magic of Dhoni again on big screens as M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story will be re-released in theatres across India on May 12 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
