1. Sajid Khan’s Entry In Big Boss:

The greatest controversy of the season turned out to be Sajid Khan’s participation in Bigg Boss 16. Swati Maliwal, the chairwoman of the Delhi Commission for Women, had alleged that she has been receiving rape threats ever since she made a formal complaint against Sajid Khan’s appearance on the show. She also posted on Twitter, complaining that she has been receiving rape threats since she filed a letter to the I&B Ministry. “Someone wants to stop the process,” she claimed. She stated that she wants the Delhi police to immediately register a FIR and look into the matter.

Moreover, Sajid Khan’s entry in Big Boss ended up in creating numerous controversies. Reportedly, there are a total of 9 such women who accused Sajid Khan of sexual harassment, including Saloni Chopra, Rachel White, Karishma Upadhyay, Aahana Kumra, Simran Suri, Mandana Karimi, Jiah Khan, Sherlyn Chopra and Dimple Paul. However, Sajid remains in the show, but his entry in Big Boss has been continuously criticized on social media.

2. Jailed conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar’s connection with Jacqueline Fernandes, Nora Fatehi and many more actresses: 

Actress Jacqueline Fernandez was questioned by the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing for more than eight hours over a ₹200 crore extortion case. Moreover, the case is linked to conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, also investigated by the ED (Enforcement Directorate). Reportedly, Jacqueline Fernandes was questioned over the gifts she received from Chandrashekhar. Furthermore, as per Mr. Ravindra Yadav, the Special Commissioner of Police, Jacqueline was questioned for her alleged involvement in the multi-crore money laundering case linked to Sukesh Chandrashekhar. 

As per the media reports, Sukesh’s associate Pinky Irani and actress Nora Fatehi introduced Jacqueline Fernandes to Sukesh Chandrashekhar. Moreover, these two have also been summoned for questioning. Conman Chandrashekhar is currently in the jail. He has been accused of cheating various people, including several bigshots like Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh’s wife Aditi Singh.

Surprisingly, the media reports claim that fours more actresses are likely to be questioned by the EOW anytime soon. Shockingly, this include the names of – Big Boss fame Nikita alias ‘Niki’ Tamboli, TV actresses Chahat Khanna, Sophia Singh and Arusha Patil, who are accused of meeting Sukesh Chandrashekhar, posed as a movie producer in the South Indian Film Industry.

3. Sidhu Moose Wala’s Murder:

Renowned Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in Jahawarke village of Mansa district on May 29 and two others were injured in the firing. The gruesome incident took place a day after the Bhagwant Mann govt scaled down the security given to Moose Wala, though it was a “temporary” move as claimed by the officials later on. However, the probe into the matter has been ongoing for months. 

After Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder, Canada based gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for his murder, along with Bishnoi gang. However, many members of Bishnoi gang including leader Lawrence Bishnoi have been questioned by Punjab police and the investigation has been ongoing. Surprisingly, Goldy Brar claimed that Moose Wala’s murder was a revenge for Akali leader Vicky Middukhera’s murder that took place in August 2021.

4. Raj Kundra’s Arrest:

Raj Kundra, a businessman and the husband of renowned Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, was detained by the Mumbai Crime Branch after being accused of providing pornographic material on his app. Furthermore, as the investigation went ahead, a number of actresses and models came forward and disclosed some of the terrible experiences. 

Shockingly, on the condition of promising them a position in a web series, Raj Kundra is accused of luring a number of women into a porn scandal. Notably, several actresses and models have confirmed the claim. However, his wife Shilpa Shetty stayed tight-lipped on the matter.

5. Controversial Movies:

Every year, a lot of movies are released, amongst which, many spark controversies. One of such movies released in 2022 was “The Kashmir Files”. The movie, as claimed by director Vivek Agnihotri, was based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990s. Moreover, the movie showed how the Kashmiri pandits were brutally murdered and were forced to leave the Jammu and Kashmir valley. 

However, the opposition parties, including the Indian National Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and many other parties claimed that the movie was inspired by a political agenda and that it covered only half truth. The opposition parties asked that when at that time the BJP-led Central government was in power, the then governor of Jammu and Kashmir – Mr. Jagmohan was from the BJP background, then who was responsible for that tragedy? 

Similarly, the much awaited movie – The Kerala Story’s teaser also brought in numerous controversies. Notably, the Sudipto Sen-directed and Vipul Amrutlal Shah-produced film tells the story of hundreds of females who have been converted and smuggled to the Islamic State and their plight. Surprisingly, the movie says that more than 32,000 women from Kerala have been converted and trafficked into the Islamic states.

The movie’s announcement was made in March this year, when it was said that it’s based on the plight of thousands of women who have been converted and trafficked to the Islamic states in the last 10 years. Furthermore, Sen, the director of the movie, revealed that since 2009, more than 32,000 girls from Christian and Hindu community, have been converted to Islam, ending up being trafficked to Syria, Afganistan and other Islamic countries.

However, based on a journalist’s complaint against Sudipto Sen’s film, Kerala’s DGP has ordered the police chief in Thiruvananthapuram to file a police report (FIR). The assertions made in the movie are now being questioned. Similarly, the Congress party has also demanded that the movie be prohibited.

7. ICC-T20 India Vs Pakistan No-Ball Controversy:

In a classic T20 World Cup encounter that took place at Melbourne Cricket stadium, Virat Kohli scored an incredible half-century to lead India to a four-wicket victory over archrivals Pakistan on the penultimate ball. However, in the last hour, which was decisive, a no-ball given by umpire.

In the decisive over of the nail-biting match between India and Pakistan, Virat Kohli hit a six over square leg off Mohammad Nawaz’s high full-toss. The umpires decided to give it a No ball after Kohli claimed that it should have been because it was above waist. Despite the opposition by the Pakistani fielders, led by Babar Azam, the decision was not changed. Later on, the decision was questioned by Pakistani players on social media.
