On Monday morning, the ceremony to honour the Padma awardees took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Padma awards were presented by the President Of India, Ram Nath Kovind. However, some of the Padma awardees were already awarded in the morning and the left ones will be honoured shortly.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and famous singer Adnan Sami are already honoured with Padma Shri awards 2020 in the morning. Whereas, director Karan Johar, producer Ekta Kapoor and the late singer SP Balasubramaniam are also in the list to be awarded for the same Padma Award category in the evening of the same day.

Kangana expressed her feeling after getting honoured by saying, ‘I started my journey from a small village in Himachal Pradesh and getting honoured in the same leagues as that of bigwigs of Bollywood whom I grew up watching is a matter of pride for me’.
Former External Affair Minister late Sushma Swaraj and the Olympian Badminton player PV Sindhu are also among the Padma awardees. Late Sushma Swaraj’s daughter Bansuri Swaraj received the Padma Vibhushan on behalf of the late minister. PV Sindhu is honoured by Padma Bhushan award.
This year, a total of 119 Padma Awards are to be presented by President Ram Nath Kovind. The awards comprise of 7 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri Awards. In which 29 of the honoured awardees are women, 16 Posthumous awardees and 1 Transgender awardee.
