Who Is Andrew Tate? Influencer Banned From Facebook And Instagram

Meta recently banned a social media influencer, Andrew Tate from Facebook and Instagram. Andrew’s fans are in shock and reacting disappointedly to the removal of their favorite influencer’s account from Meta’s social media platforms. Andrew Tate is an American-British, social media influencer and former professional kickboxer. Following his kickboxing career, Tate made a move to influencer marketing. He headlined many controversy due to his allegedly misogynistic statements on topics such as sexual assault that resulted in bans from Facebook, Instagram,Twitter and TikTok. Tate has also been under a legal investigation for human trafficking and rape allegations.

Andrew Tate was born on December 14, 1986, in Chicago, Illinois, and was raised in Luton, England. Andrew is the son of Emory Tate, an African-American chess International Master. Andrew also worked in selling television advertising, but since 2005, he had practiced boxing and martial arts on the side. In 2009, he won the International Sport Karate Association (ISKA) Full Contact Cruiserweight championship in Derby, England, and was ranked number one in the Cruiserweight division in Europe. 

In 2016, Tate gained publicity following his removal from the seventeenth season of Big Brother after the release of a video in which Tate appeared to beat a woman with a belt. Tate said the actions were consensual and shared a clip to Facebook of a woman, who claims to be the woman in the video, saying that it was “pure game”.

He received attention for his tweets on his views over ‘what qualifies as sexual harassment’ amid the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse cases and for tweeting several other statements about that sexual assault victims share responsibility for their assaults. In 2017, Tate stated that depression is not a real illness.

Tate also operates Hustler’s University, a private online academy, where members pay a monthly membership fee in order to receive instruction on topics such as dropshipping and cryptocurrency trading. Andrew became highly prominent during 2022 by encouraging members of Hustler’s University to post large numbers of videos of him to social media websites, including TikTok, where videos of him have been viewed over 11.6 billion times, in an effort to maximize engagement.

Throughout 2022, Tate is regarded as a cult for many young directionless men in many English-speaking countries, particularly catering to anti-feminist views. The White Ribbon Campaign, a non-profit advocating against male-on-female violence, considered Tate’s comments “extremely misogynistic”.

In August 2022, Tate was banned from Facebook and Instagram for violating their policies. TikTok have also taken action against Tate, banning an account associated with him; the company also stated they were working on stricter enforcement of his videos expressing “hateful ideology. In a deleted video posted to his YouTube channel, Tate stated that he decided to move to Romania because it was easier to be absolved of rape charges in Eastern Europe.

In April 2022, Tate’s house was raided by the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism of Romania (DIICOT) for a human trafficking and rape investigation. The U.S. embassy had alerted Romanian police that an American woman might be held at Tate’s house. The raid resulted in the recovery of an American woman and a Romanian woman, however, Tate denies his involvement in any wrongdoing.
