Sidhu Moosewala, who is unfortunately no more among us, was greatly influenced by Tupac Shakur. He even called him his idol in many of his interviews. “Tupac Naal Mildi Aa Raashi Mitheya”, a line from Sidhu Moosewala’s verse in a song called ‘Homicide’ came true! How?
Tupac Shakur is considered to be one of the greatest rappers to have ever lived on the planet. Sometimes called 2Pac, Tupac Amaru Shakur (his real name) was an American rapper and is one of the most selling artists ever in history, with over 75 million records worldwide. He talked about his life, society, the impact of society on life and became a symbol of fury against inequality with his art.
On the night of 7 September, 1996 in Las Vegas, United States of America, the 25 year old was shot in a drive-by shooting at around 11:15 pm. Shakur was struck by four .40 caliber rounds fired from a Glock:two in the chest, one in the arm, and one in the thigh. He took his last breath on 13 September, 1996 at the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada.
Sidhu Moosewala, who considered Tupac his idol, met the end of his life in the same way. While driving a Mahindra Thar in his village, Moosa, Mansa, Punjab, Sidhu Moosewala was openly fired at by unknown armed men. Reportedly, more than 20 rounds were fired at Sidhu Moosewala and he was taken to a nearby hospital. Doctors could not do much as Sidhu was in a serious situation and the great artist bid farewell to the world on the hospital bed.
The unbelievable coincidences in the lives of the two greats are frightening. Both were killed while driving a car. Both were young, Tupac was 25 while Sidhu 29, when they were shot dead. Both influenced a huge audience with their art and were considered a key figure in the upliftment of their community as well as the industry. It will always remain unanswered what the two greats would have achieved had they lived longer.
