Squid Game is one of the most successful series on Netflix. The Korean web series broke many records and went on to earn massive popularity worldwide. The series earlier made history as it managed to become the first-ever non-English show to get a remarkable place in Emmy Awards 2022. And now it has made history once again by winning some prestigious awards.
Squid Game was nominated under a total of 14 categories which also included some really prominent awards. And it’s raining awards for the much-loved drama series.

Lee Jung Jae for the role of Seong Gi-hun won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. In his winning speech, the 49 YO actor said, “Thank you to Director Hwang for making realistic problem[s] we all face come to life so creatively on the screen, with a great script and amazing visuals. To everyone watching from Korea, my friends, family, and dearest fans, I want to share this joy with you. Thank you.”
Apart from Lee Jung Jae, Hwang Dong Hyuk; the writer, creator and director of the massive superhit Netflix series has won the award for the Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series category.
Hwang Dong Hyuk while receiving his award for outstanding direction stated, “People keep telling me, like, I made history, but I don’t think I made history by myself. Because it was you who opened up the doors for Squid Game, inviting us here tonight at the Emmys. I truly hope that Squid Game won’t be the last non-English series to be here at the Emmys, and I also hope this won’t be my last Emmy either.”

Squid Game also won Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode, Outstanding Stunt Performance and Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour or More) that same night. In total, Squid Game has won six out of 14 categories it was nominated in at this year’s Emmys.
Now when Squid Game has finally succeeded in winning hearts and awards, the fans are waiting for season 2 to finally get ready. Squid Game 2 has been officially announced and is in progress.
