Complaint Against Aamir’s Laal Singh Chaddha for Disrespecting Indian Army

Aamir Khan’s comeback movie Laal Singh Chaddha has not been welcomed on a positive note by the people. After facing boycott trends before release, Laal Singh Chaddha is now under legal troubles immediately after its release on August 11.

A complaint has been filed against Aamir Khan, his film along with Paramount Pictures, and director Advait Chandan for allegedly ‘disrespecting the Indian Army and hurting Hindu sentiments’.

A Delhi-based lawyer submitted a complaint to Delhi Police commissioner Sanjay Arora on Friday, claiming that the portrayal of the Indian Army in Laal Singh Chaddha movie has disrespected the Indian armed forces. Aamir’s character ‘Laal’ works as an Indian Army personnel in the film, which is one of the several professions he takes up in his life.

As per a report in ANI, advocate Vineet Jindal alleged in his complaint to Delhi Police that there was objectionable and disrespectful content in the movie. Jindal sought registration of an FIR under sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 298 (wounding the religious feelings of any person), and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) of the IPC against the Laal Singh Chaddha’s filmmakers.

In his complaint Vineet said, “In the movie, the makers have depicted that a mentally challenged person was allowed to join the Army to fight in the Kargil War. It is a well-known fact that the best army personnel were sent to fight the Kargil war and adamantly trained army personnel fought the war but the movie makers intentionally portrayed the said situation to demoralise and defame the Indian army.”

The lawyer also accused Aamir’s movie for hurting religious sentiments with a scene where a Pakistani personnel asked Laal – “I offer Namaz and pray, Laal, why don’t you do the same?” to which Aamir replied, “My mother said all this Pooja-Paath is like Malaria. It causes riots.” The lawyer said that the remark is highly objectionable and a defamatory statement to the entire Hindu community.

The comment read, “This statement shows Aamir’s intent of waging war and activating enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion which is against the ideology of a secular democratic country like India and is also a mischief against Indian army which is a criminal offence as per the law of the land.”

Monty, who has his roots in the Indian state of Punjab, tweeted, “Forrest Gump fits in the US Army because the US was recruiting low IQ men to meet requirements for the Vietnam War but this movie is a total disgrace to the Indian Armed Forces, Indian Army and Sikhs !!Disrespectful. Laal Singh Chaddha, also stars Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya in pivotal roles. It is the remake of Tom Hanks-starrer Forrest Gump (1994). Aamir’s movie had been facing calls for boycott on social media due to some comments he made about India a few years ago. Even after facing pre-release criticism the movie made it to cinemas on August 11. But the rage against it has surely affected its purse that is why this Laal Singh Chaddha became Aamir’s lowest opening movie in the last 15 years.
